Noxema Account Awarded to Wieden, New York.
Wieden & Kennedy, Portland, Ore., has cut its teeth in personal-care and beauty advertising working since 2006 for Procter & Gamble Co., which sold Noxzema to Alberto-Culver in October. The Portland office handles Old Spice and Graham Webb salon beauty products for P&G and worked on a project basis for Escada fragrance before Grey Global Group became agency of record for that brand earlier this year.
Unlikely to conflict with P&G Given that there is little or no direct competitive overlap between Noxzema and Wieden”s P&G brands, and the Noxzema account is being handled in the New York office, the assignment appears unlikely to run afoul of P&G”s conflict rules. A P&G spokeswoman couldn”t immediately be reached for comment.
‘It was a strong race between a number of strategic and innovative agencies, who all showed a tremendous amount of excitement for the Noxzema business,’ an Alberto-Culver spokeswoman said in an e-mail statement.more

Lack of funding strikes local chambers.
White”s organization lost $5,000 a year each from the cities of Deltona, DeBary and Orange City; $10,000 this year from the West Volusia Tourism Advertising Authority, which helped pay for visitor center operations; and memberships and advertising dollars from county agencies, such as the Department of Economic Development and Daytona Beach International Airport.
‘I”m probably taking in the neighborhood of a $40,000 hit, given all the advertising and memberships,’ White said. ‘I”m going to have to find a way to make that up. . . . I”m revisiting everything we do here.’
The chamber”s total budget is about $300,000. White thinks it was a mistake for local governments to cut back so sharply.
‘For years, the West Volusia chambers have been the “storefronts” for information (of all kinds),’ she said.more

What do all those car commercials cost?.
Here”s one: Would some reporter find out how many billions are used on advertising for the car industry? It has to be enormous and a place to cut one of the biggest expenses. I firmly believe most people would agree we do not need to be bombarded hourly with ads.
Hire more floor salespeople to sell the cars and trucks. We need and like the personal touch. Put more profits into the pockets of salespeople, the dealers and the manufacturers, not advertising.

If you want to make money when using PPC advertising (which of course you do), you need to learn as much as you can on how the entire system works. PPC advertising is basically just keyword bidding for search engine placement. A successful PPC campaign involves the proper planning. To help inprove your results, I suggest doing the following 7 steps:
1. Know your target market and product: This step is more or less research based and is extremely important. Herein you study your market or niche and related top-selling products. With effective research, you will get clear understanding about the market and products.
2. Set your budget: PPC campaigns are all about planning and how to stay within the stipulated budget. Before beginning your PPC campaign, you must determine your daily or monthly budget.more
